My dog is in labor but wants to go outside to deliver puppies.

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 3 months old | 40 lbs

My dog is 61 days pregnant. We know she can have the puppies any day now. She seems to be going into labour, but she thinks she has to potty. We think she's worried to potty inside, so she is refusing to push in the house. She's kind of like holding it i guess until she gets outside, then she will try to push. We really don't want her to have the puppies outside. Any tips to convince her to do it inside? She won't leave the door cuz she thinks she has to go.. picture is a few days ago

She may just want to go outside because it seems more comfortable, but I agree that's not ideal. If you do not have a whelping box set up for her inside I would make sure she has a comfy spot. She may prefer to be left alone - you could partially shut to door to a room so you can still supervise her and make sure everything is going okay. If she is actively pushing for more than 30 minutes or if she goes more than 4 hours between puppies I would recommend seeing a veterinarian to make sure everything is okay.
