Why are my dog's black, crusty ears painful & she's losing fur?

Question

My dog's ears went from pink to black and crusty almost dead like? She doesn't like people touching her ears anymore. She is also now losing a bit of fur on her butt near the base of the tail. What do you think this could be? And how can we treat it? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 8 years and 8 months old

Hi, sorry to hear Baby is having this problem. Her ears looks very infected and need to be treated as soon as possible. She could have a yeast infection that is contributing to this If her ears smell, this is likely the cause. She will need to be on ear medications and possibly oral antibiotics as well. Please take her to your vet when possible, the sooner the better. Good luck!
