Is it normal for a new cat to hide after adoption and neutering?

So i just adopted this beautiful cat from my local shelter. Well they had to neuter him before giving him to me. I was wondering if it's normal for him to hide out around my house, and not come out usually at all except at night when we go to bed. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7.7 lbs

Congrats on the new cat! Yes, with so much change in Salem's life it's normal to be a bit fearful and hide until things settle down. It's possible he may be a timid cat indefinitely, but most likely he will get more social as he adjusts to his new surroundings.
