Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Female | spayed | 6 years and 8 months old | 60 lbs
I have a 6-1/2 year old spayed female Border Collie. She has had a total of 4 seizures in the past 1-1/2 years. The seizures seem to be triggered by vomiting. Her most recent seizure was today when I induced vomiting because I thought she ate dark chocolate. Can vomiting trigger a vagal nerve response that leads to a seizure? This is my best guess as to the cause.

She is cute! Vomiting can cause a vasovagal response and the animal could have a syncopal episode (fainting) but I don't believe it would cause a seizure. Are you sure your dog is having a seizure and not just fainting? I know of dogs that vomiting because of the seizure but since you actually induced vomiting that doesn't make sense. Here is a link to an article with information on the difference between syncope and a seizure which might be helpful to read...... https://www.mspca.org/angell_services/the-approach-to-the-collapsing-dog/
