My kitten has a gaping hole on her lower tummy. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 17 days old | 3 lbs

My kitten has a gaping hole on her lower tummy area between her legs. It's an almost perfect circle. Never had this before i bathed her less than a week ago and she had no hole or bumb. Pls help I cannot afford a vet visit rn. Not sure on her age she still has tiny baby teeth. I rescued her from the outdoors and she is now an indoor kitten trained and very playful.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Poor Carmy! I am assuming Carmy is an indoor-outdoor kitten. The hole could be from a fly that deposited an egg and now a large worm is in the hole. It is called a cuterebra. The best thing for her is to go to the Vet so they can check her out and if there is a cuterebra present remove it, flush out the wound and send her home with antibiotics. Good luck
