Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 5 lbs

My cat has been hiding in my bed and in my couch all day today, and refusing to leave. Shes never like that, if anything shes usually pretty hyper and social. Whats wrong with her?

Cats may hide if scared or not feeling well. Try to determine is anything has changed around the house that may have spooked her. Any new people or pets, a move, or sudden change in schedule. If you can't think of anything then monitor health closely. Eating, drinking and litter box habits. Notice any vomiting or diarrhea. And if she is acting ill take her in for a vet visit.

When a cat starts hiding very often out of the blue it's usually not a good sign, cats tend to do that when they do not feel well or when they are ill. i would recommend taking her to the vet for a checkup and blood test.
