My puppy just had a corn cob removed from her intestines a couple of days ago. I brought her home yesterday and she has had a good appetite, sleeps a lot, and has pooped on a few occasions. The only problem is is that several minutes after she eats she starts crying, yelping, and biting at her butt. Most times she ends up pooping, but other times she doesn't. Does this happen sometimes? Can poop coming through her intestines hurt her stitches/colon?

Sorry that Mabel had to have surgery. The short answer to your question is , no. The stool is not likely causing any discomfort with the stitches. The stitches themselves may be causing her some discomfort but it sounds more like her anal glands may be full. I'm sure if you called your vet and wanted to take her for an exam for them to check her anal glands they would be happy to do that. Most clinics do not charge an exam fee for post-op rechecks so I would recommend you call them and get her in for an appointment. I hope this helps. Best wishes! I hope Mabel gets back to her old self soon!
