My puppy's breeder won't deworm. Do puppies need deworming regularly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 6 days old | 5 lbs

I'm buying a puppy from a breeder who does not deworm the puppies unless she notices soft stools. I thought they had to be dewormed at 2,4,6 weeks etc. Is it ok not to deworm puppies?

You are correct that puppies should be dewormed those times, and in my opinion is not ok to not deworm puppies. Puppies can have intestinal worms even without showing diarrhea or soft stools. Should you chose to get Alfie from this breeder, make sure to deworm him as soon as you get him. Good on you for asking!
