My dog has high liver enzymes. Is SAM-e good for a liver shunt?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 5 days old | 2.7 lbs

my 10 month femail 2.7 pound MiKi (Maltese,Pappion,Japanese Chin mix) has raised liver counts and vet is thinking liver shunt; heard of Sam-e would this be good

SAM-e is a good liver supplement but will not fix or improve a potential liver shunt. A bile acids test is used to confirm if a shunt is present and a CT helps to locate the shunt before surgery. Medical management if surgery is not an option due to the shunt location/type/ etc is also an option you can discuss with your veterinarian. Surgery if possible is the best option for a long normal life. Medical management can decrease their normal life span depending on the degree of the shunt. Good luck!
