Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 7 days old | 1lb

My vet gave me sentinel and a heartguard to give to my puppy who is 2 months and told me to give them about the same time... this just doesn't seem right to me.. any opinions?

Sentinel and Heartgard are both hearworm preventives, so there would be no need to give both. I would suggest calling your vet for clarification on this tomorrow, since it definitely doesn't make sense.

Sentinel and HeartGard both protect against heartworms so you should not need them at the same time. He should have a heartworm pill and something to protect against fleas and ticks, like Frontline, NexGard, Advantage.
