My 7-year-old chihuahua has neglected teeth. What dental care is best?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 7 years old | 9.6 lbs

I've taken care of my dental, but not my 7 year old chihuahuas.... I've given her dental sticks but nothing else. What do I do about her teeth:/ I feel so bad. I never thought of dog dental. :(

Hi there! Charlotte will need a teeth cleaning under general anesthesia to make her mouth happy and bright again. Your veterinarian may take x rays to see if any of the teeth need to be pulled or filled just like your dentist does. After a thorough exam and work up-charlotte will undergo her procedure and come home with much fresher breath. Brushing after these procedures greatly helps too!
