My dog keeps biting his paws. Is Aquaphor safe to use on them?

My dog Maxx GS/Husky has been biting on his front feet lately. But I checked his feet didn't see anything unusual, can I rub some aguaphor on his feet???

Anything you apply topically will likely be licked off. The Aquaphor may cause diarrhea or vomiting. Place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent further licking or chewing. Chronic licking or the feet may indicate allergies or food sensitivities. Have Maxx examined by your veterinarian to rule out infection, bug bite/sting or foreign body (thorns, splinter, etc). Discuss antihistamine use for Maxx as it may provide relief.

    Chewing and biting on paws is a classic sign of allergies so your dog could have allergies. You could soak his paws in a warm Epsom salt solution and see if that helps. He might also need an antihistamine, antibiotic, and a corticosteroid to help and your vet can prescribe.
