My dog with lymphoma has oozing skin ulcers. Does he need antibiotics?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 8 months old | 19 lbs

My dog has lymphoma and just developed skin ulcers that lose with a whitish colored pus. They are on his right side toward his back. After I cleaned and sterilized them they seem to stop oozing. Will they keep spreading? Do I need to get antibiotics?

Hi, I'm Dr. Johnson. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am so sorry to hear about Mugsy. If he has an skin infection or ulcers I recommend seeing your Vet for possible antibiotics. He is already immunosuppressed having cancer. And sadly lymphoma can affect the skin as well. I wish you and Mugsy the best!
