My dog's biopsy shows pre-cancerous cells. Is surgery needed?

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Female | unspayed | 8 years and 2 months old | 10 lbs

Our bichion has just had a biopsy that has come back with the possibly has pre cancerous cells does she need an opperation if it is uncertain it is cancer

I'm sorry to hear about Millie's biopsy results! It can definitely be scary to find pre-cancerous cells on a biopsy. It would help to know more about exactly where the growth is located, how large it is, etc. since this would help to determine how likely it is to actually be cancer as well as how easy or difficult it may be to remove surgically - these are all important factors in making a decision. In general, if a growth is shown have pre-cancerous cells, I would recommend removing it to prevent progression to cancer at a later time.
