Why is my dog's paw swollen, causing her to limp and be lethargic?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 42 lbs

Nona has a swollen back left paw. It is just on the top of the paw....no where else. I noticed because when I came home from work yesterday she didn't get up right away and was limping outside. Now when she is walking, she keeps her entire leg up and won't walk on it. I am wondering if she got a bee sting or bit by something. I checked her paw thoroughly and did not see anything. She is lethargic.

Hello. While it is possible that Nona was bitten on her foot by something, she could also have a more serious problem- like infection or even broken bone in her foot. I recommend taking Nona to your veterinarian. There they will be able to do a physical examination to find the cause of her injury and at least give her a pain medication. I hope this helps!
