My cat has a pink, bald bump behind her whiskers. Does she need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 6.7 lbs

Female cat, age 7. A small, bald, pink and ever so slightly red bump has appeared on the left side of the face, about one inch and a half behind the whiskers. Unsure if this is the result of small spats with other cat, but have never seen anything like it on her before. Is it time for a vet visit?

Hello there. While the bump on Peaches' face could be from a scratch from another cat, it could also be the start of an abscess (either from a cat fight or from dental disease) or could be a growth starting. I recommend taking Peaches to her vet to have it checked out. She may need antibiotics or a dental cleaning. Hope this helps!
