My dog has oozing, bleeding paw sores. Could it be his ear problem?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 80 lbs

My dog has oozing sores between his toes that have started bleeding. His feet are swollen and I know they hurt. What can I do to help clean them? Also, could this be linked to his ear problem? He has been shaking his head and when I clean them I get a nasty tan colored gunk out of them. Since cleaning his ears, it has cleared up. But his poor feet are horrible! What could it be and how can I help him at home?

Poor Sampson! It looks like he could have an infection on his paws. You could soak his paws in a warm Epsom salt solution and see if that helps. Otherwise, he needs to be examined by a veterinarian for treatment. He may need an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory to help treat the problem. It could be related to his ear problem ad he could have allergies and a secondary ear infection and skin infection.
