My dog ate a little Neosporin. Should I be concerned if he's okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 10 lbs

My 10 lb dog found a 0.5 ounce bottle of neoporin yesterday around 11pm chewed it up and ingested a little (maybe 10-20% of it). He seems fine and is exhibiting no symptoms, peed and pooed fine this morning but wondering if there's anything to be concerned about? Thank you!

Teddy will probably be fine, especially since it sounds like he ate very little of the Neosporin. However, I would be on the watch for vomiting or diarrhea, since these are the most common problems associated with ingesting medications. If he begins to have vomiting or diarrhea you made need to take hkm the veterinarian to treat those symptoms.

At this stage I would just monitor him. Ingestion of small amount should not cause toxicity at all. Eventually you might notice some gastrointestinal signs like vomiting, inappetence or diarrhoea, but nothing so serious to need a vet check up. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation (where you can post pictures ) if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.
