Dog has a firm, movable lump where she got a shot. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 11 months and 3 days old | 11 lbs

My dog was bleeding a lot rectally I took her to the vet they tested for parasites, test was negative. Vet said maybe ruptured vein. Vet gave her antibiotic & a shot. Bleeding stopped. I noticed a bump on her right shoulder two days ago, it seems firm but moves when I move her skin. Its the location where shot was given but it's been a week since shot was given. Should I be worried?

It is possible that Trixie is having some inflammation associated with the shot she was given. This inflammation may take several months to resolve. If you are very worried you can take her to the vet, where they may be able to look at some of the cells present in the lump. Otherwise, you can monitor at home. If the lump does not resolve in a month or two, I recommend bringing her to the vet at that time.
