Cockatiel scratched by cat, now shaking. Does he need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old

My cocktail was scratched by our cat on his left leg esterday afternoon. He was bleeding & we washed his leg with water & put baking soda to help stop the bleeding. It stopped last night. Unfortunately an averían vet is about 160 miles from us. He's able to stand on both legs now but has been shaking. Last night he was standing on one foot only putting his other foot under his wing or rubbing his face with it. That's why on pictures you can see some blood stains. What so I do? I'm worried. Help

El Guero must be taken to the vet, without antibiotics his chances of recovery are not good, you can probably take him to a regular vet as long as they accept to see him, he will need a course of antibiotics, these antibiotics are the same ones given to cats, rabbits and other small animals.
