Is it safe for my cat to eat food with another cat's saliva?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello, is it okay that my cat eats cat food with saliva from my other cat? I left dry food alone for them and they have different bowls in different places. I have 4 cats and they eat in different bowls every time. My one cat has no teeth so that's why his salivating while eating. Even when he drinks, the water also has saliva. So is that okay???

If the cats are all healthy and don't have any illnesses such as FIP/FIV then it should be fine. However if you have a cat that is ill or FIP/FIV positive, it can be spread through the saliva/bite wounds, so it would be best to make sure they do not share a bowl.
