Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 6 months old | 55 lbs
6 month old German Shepherd has loose stool ever since we brought him home...our vet told us that maybe he couldn't handle the richness of the type of food we were feeding him. Which was Fromm large breed puppy formula. Now we changed it to Blue Buffalo puppy formula. Still no change in his stool. What should I do or ask my vet to look for?

Chronic diarrhea can be a frustrating issue! In a young German Shepherd, my main concerns for Charlie are that he may have intestinal parasites, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, or inflammatory bowel disease. If he has not recently had a stool sample checked for parasites, this is a good starting point. If no parasites are seen, consider discussing blood work (CBC, chemistry, B12, TLI, folate) and an abdominal ultrasound to try to get to the bottom of this situation. Probiotics (Fortiflora and Proviable are two brands) may be beneficial. I hope that all goes well!
