Can a vaccinated dog get Lyme disease if a bullseye rash appears?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 11 months and 15 days old | 35 lbs

Khloe has been vacanated against Lyme disease but just recently a small bullseye rash appeared on her skin. Is it possible she could have Lyme disease and the vaccine isn't 100% effective?

No vaccine is 100% and there are other tick borne illness with similar symptoms that maybe transmitted to dogs. You can monitor for any joint pain, lethargy, or bruising on her skin. If that is noted then make an appointment to have her tested.
