How can I ensure my new dog recognizes me as her owner while away?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 7 months old

Hi there. I recently got a dog but due to moving issues she has to stay with my future roommates for a week before we move. I'm going over and spending time with her, but I'm worried she's going to end up viewing them as her owner and like them more then me. as i'll be living with them the dog wont have much time with just me around to give her the understanding that I'm her owner. i know this probably sounds a little petty, i just want to know if there is something i can do to help this.

I can understand being concerned, but Echo will eventually recognize you as her owner. It's a good idea that you go over to visit her as much as you can, and I would make sure you go over when it's time to feed her both in the morning and night. Feeding her will help her recognize you as her owner, the awesome person that makes sure she has food! Also give her lots of love. A week isn't a long time for you not to live with Echo, it will be ok :-)
