My dog has an elbow bump. Should I keep using peroxide and bag balm?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | neutered | 6 years and 7 months old | 50 lbs

Noticed this bump on my dogs elbow. Doesn't seem to bother him. I've been putting hydrogen peroxide and bag balm on it.

It looks very inflamed. It could be a pressure sore or a reaction to bite. It is at a difficult spot due being a pressure for dogs when they lie down. Try to keep him some padded bedding to help the best you can. I would stop peroxide as it can delay healing at this point. You can try cortisone cream to help with the redness but he might need antibiotics or a different anti inflammatory to clear it up
