My dog won't eat and is lethargic after being outside. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 27 days old | 30 lbs

Dog won't eat food. Last night after we fed her it seemed like she was choking on something but she walked around for a bit and was fine. She's very lazy today. She was outside with us yesterday for most of the day... But she had plenty of shade and water. Wondering if we should be concerned or if she's just extremely tired fr being outside.

I would be concerned that Bell hasn't returned to normal after 12-24 hours. While heat injury is possible usually dogs have issues sooner than now such as seizures, diarrhea, bruising and/or collapse. She could have a problem with her GI tract, something stuck in her esophagus or even a respiratory issues causing her changes. If she continues to cough, seems lethargic/lack of energy, or has any vomiting, diarrhea or continues to have a decreased appetite today she needs to be seen by a veterinarian. I would try calling your veterinarian today as they sometimes have an oncall service or an emergency veterinarian on call to answer questions as well.

    Poor Bella. She may be tired from the previous day. She is also at the age range where she is still going through growth spurts, which will cause her to sleep more. As long as she is still eating, drinking, urinating and pooping normally I wouldn't be too concerned. The one court of coughing isn't too concerning either. Continue to monitor her today and if she progresses with new symptoms then it's best to get her seen by your vet for a possible underlying illness (i.e. Bacterial infection, etc). I hope things work out well for your pet Bella. Best wishes and take care.
