Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 11.5 lbs
My current cat eats Royal Canin veterinary diet, potato and venison, for food allergies, and it is formulated for adult cats. I am planning to get new kitten today. Would it be okay to feed the new kitten the prescription food (1. To make it easier for me, and 2. To prevent my current cat from getting into the kitten food (which he is allergic to))?

Ideally the kitten should stay on a kitten diet for at least the first six months of their life as their nutritional requirements are different than adult cats. One method of successfully feeding them different diets is to "meal feed" the kitten, meaning the kitten gets fed at specific times versus leaving the food out all the time as well as feeding the kitten in a closed off area like a bathroom or closet.
