Dog has head lump after injury, steroids failed. Could it be a tumor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 75 lbs

Cartel was hit by a car in april...no xrays were taken and he was treated for a scint leg/ shoulder. Last month we noticed a large lump in half of his head . We took him to the same vet and he was treated with a steroid injection. Now a month later it seems like it has not gone away . Do you think it's a tumor??

This could be a tumor. A biopsy or other test is determine what exactly is going on. I recommend calling your veterinarian that did the injection to discuss the lack of response as well as what other tests they can offer to help Carltel.
