Friskies vs Whiskas: Which affordable cat food is right for my cat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Which cat food should I feed to my cats, Friskies or Whiskas? I'm here in Philippines and I found that the Whiskas cat food is much better than Friskies here in Philippines (including in UK) but in America, Friskies is better than Whiskas. I know people saying that they are both bad for your cat's health but still, it's nutritional right? I know there's a lot of cat food that recommend by vets that I can feed to my cat but between Friskies and Whiskas I can only afford. So which should I feed??

I would feed whichever brand your cat(s) prefer. Both diets do meet the minimum standards for nutrition and are fine as long as your cat doesn't have any health issues like urinary crystals or stones. You are providing them adequate nutrition and it is important they eat what they prefer and you can reasonably afford.

Both foods are considered mid to low-tier commercial foods. Whiskas and Friskies both tend to have a lot of filler ingredients in them which may cause obesity or health issues in some cats. However, other cats will prefer these foods and can thrive on them. If you're looking for higher quality foods, looking for brands such as Science Diet, Eukanuba, Purina, etc is a good stepping stone up.
