Dog panting, scratching after rabies vaccine and flea treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 7 months old | 80 lbs

My dog was given a rabies vaccine at 11am, and began to pant periodically a few hours later. His gums are normal color. He's also been scratching more than normal, although he was also treated for fleas. He does not seem distressed and will breath fine for awhile, in between panting.

The panting might be a reaction to the vaccine although it could also be related to the flea treatment, especially if he has fleas. i would recommend keeping an eye on him, no need to take him to the vet at the moment, i would expect it to resolve in the next 24 hours.
