My dog hit her head on a car. How to check for head injury at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Female | spayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 80 lbs

Hello! While playing outside my Doberman accidentally ran into the side of a parked car because she wasn't looking. She fell back, but got right back up to bark at the car. Her pupils are dilating normally and she is preforming all of her tricks (sit, down, shake, speak) normally. Dobermans are pretty hardy dogs so I believe she is okay, but I want to know if there is anything else that I can do from home to make sure she doesn't have any head injuries. Thank you for your time!

If Emmy's acting normal, walking okay, responding normal, and is eating/drinking okay, I wouldn't be too concerned with a head injury. Keep an eye on her just to make sure no atypical behaviors develop and if they do she should see her veterinarian.
