One of my dogs is being treated for kennel cough for the last 2 days, she might have contracted it a week ago. My other dog has had the Bordetella vaccination. Should I still keep them seporated?

Most likely if one of your dogs has kennel cough the other dog has already been exposed. Kennel cough is a very general term to describe infectious tracheitis. There can be many causes for kennel cough including mycoplasma which we cannot vaccinate for. I would recommend just monitoring your other dog for any coughing . If you notice coughing I would recommend taking him to the vet for an exam. Sometimes certain dogs will not get kennel cough due to stronger immune systems.

If the two dogs have already come into contact with each other I would not worry about keeping them separated. If the two dogs have not come into contact with each other I would keep them separated to be on the safe side. The kennel cough vaccines does not prevent all types of kennel cough. Some of the viral/bacterial components of kennel cough cannot be vaccinated for. kennel cough is spread easily by fomites so make sure you use different food/water bowls and they should be separated even outside.
