Why is my puppy's skin spot on his back getting worse and bigger?

My puppy came in one day with a spot on his back that looked like he had played to rough and tore the skin off. It looked like it was healing but now looks worse and seems to be getting bigger. What could it be? Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 30 lbs
