My dog has Ehrlichia, still weak after antibiotics. Should I go to vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 63 lbs

My German Shepherd mix was diagnosed with Ehrlichia a month ago, and has been on antibiotics since then. He has improved some, but is still very weak. Should I take him back to the vet, or is it just going to take more time for him to get over it? He is 11 years old, and was very active and energetic before he got sick.

Hi there. If your dog has a history of Erlichia and Scout is already 11 I would encourage you to take him back for a re-evaluation. He may need fluid therapy, etc and your doctor will be familiar with your case. My best to you and Scout
