Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

Misty has pulled all her fur out and is often scratching herself u ntil she bleeds. She has very dry skin. How can I treat this. I have fleed and wormed her so it is not this causing the problem.

Misty sounds very itchy if she is pulling out all her fur and scratching herself until she is bleeding. I would be concerned she has medical problem causing this scratching, such as mites, ringworm, or allergies. I recommend taking her into the vet for an exam today or first thing Monday. The vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the scratching is found, the vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment.
