My cat sleeps more after my trip, but eats and plays. Is she okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 12 lbs

My cat seems to be sleeping more than usual. However, she is eating, drinking, and will actively play when engaged. She is peeing and pooping with no signs of anything unusual. I noticed it when I came back from being away for a couple of days (I had someone check in with her once while I was away). Am I being paranoid? lol

She may have developed a different routine while you were away based on the pet sitter's schedule. Since she is eating and drinking and having no other changes, you can monitor her activity and see if changes are bites once you get back to your normal routine. If a decreased appetite or any changes in bathroom habits are noticed, then I would have him checked by a vet.

Travelling can be very stressful and tiring for cats but as long as he is rousable i would just monitor for 12hours as he sleeps it off. Monitor closely for any additional symptoms and schedule a vet check if he does not start eating tomorrow. Try feeding warmed, soft food
