My cat is sick, coughing, sneezing, and not eating. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Female

Maui is one of our family's cats and she's sick. She doesnt want to mingle with Bacon. She eats with her paw that makes their food area messy. She coughs mucus and she doesnt want to leave the litter area. She sneezes a lot. I searched for home treatments for her and I gave her honey and Mentex. And she puked. Im afraid that Bacon, my cat would catch Maui's illness. I dont know what to do with Maui. She looks so terrible and so lonely. She's not active and doesnt eat a lot.

I would highly recommend taking Maui to a vet as soon as possible. It is possible she is suffering from an upper respiratory disease (fungal or bacterial). However, we cannot rule out infectious disease, parasites, cancers or heart disease. She really needs evaluated to determine the cause of her illness and can be addressed properly with medications. If she does have an infection she will need antibiotics to improve.
