Why is my rabbit suddenly acting aggressive towards my new puppy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 6 months old

my rabbit suddenly gone mad why? i went to take my 1 month old dog to my yard (that yard used to be my rabbit playground) my rabbit is in the cage and when i just opened the door she like jumping and running inside the cage and making noises. i know THAT jumping and running is doesn't mean she is happy she looks like mad. i don't know if she was bitten by other animals (in her cage is possible that ants can get in) or she is jealous with my dog. i really shocked when that happens please explain

It is hard for us to say without watching your rabbit's behavior but it is possible she could be either feeling territorial (rabbits can be aggressive if they feel a territory is their own) or feeling scared/threatened by the dog. It may take some time for her to adjust to the new dog. Also be sure she has an area where she feels safe/somewhere she can hide such as a sheltered box so that she doesn't feel exposed at all times and can go to this area if she is feeling scared.
