Dog pox is a colloquial name for herpes virus infection. However, CHV only tendsxto cause death in new born puppies, and in older dogs and pups it tends to show no symptoms or cause mild respiratory issues or skin lesions. I would be inclined to have your vet run some bloods to check organ function and start an epilepsy medication to cover a few more bases.
