Why isn't my bird's airway infection getting better with antibiotics?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female

My grey has been diagnosed with airway infection. She has been given the two different antibiotics (Doxybiotics and the water based one) After a month she is not better. The tail-bobbing has increased her respiratory rate, and labored breathing (even at rest) has worsened. She's not eating well either and is increasingly weak. What must I do? The vet keeps giving antibiotics.

I would have expect it to get better on these antibiotics, in that case there is a very good chance that it's a fungal infection rather than a bacterial infection, you need to take her back to the vet ASAP and ask him to try an anti fungal treatment.
