My dog is limping after running. What can I do for pain at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | neutered | 7 months and 16 days old | 80 lbs

Dog has been limping pretty bad for the past couple of hours after running outside. He is tender if you touch his right leg. No where specific just all over. Any recommendations for Pain until I can see the vet in the morning when I have my car back?

I'm sorry Havoc is in pain! Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I would rest him tonight. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. Definitely take him into the vet in the morning. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. The vet can also prescribe safe pain medication as needed. Good luck, I hope this helps!
