My dog has a dry, scabby spot. Is it allergies? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 12 lbs

I noticed this on Cookie a day or two ago and thought it was lint from her hoodie. I've come to realize it's skin. It wasn't this noticeable yesterday, but I've 'bothered' it while trying to examine, photograph & video it. She does has allergies, though I haven't seen her scratch it. Please help!

It seems very dry in this photo. The best thing to do is keep it clean and place neosporin on it to soften the scab and take her to your vet tomorrow to make sure she doesn't need antibiotics and they aren't deep scabs
