My Yorkie has a growing lump under her anus. Could it be a tumor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

my 3 year old female toy yorkie has 1 lump the size of a golf ball under the anus, not on the anal glands. She had it when she was just months old, I just thought it was the way she was, it does seem to be getting bigger??? She does have allergies and she doesn't have a BM every day. She is playful, full of energy, you would never know by the way she acts that anything is wrong. I wonder what you have to say. I think it could be a tumor from what I have researched. thank you, dhyanna

Hi Dhyanna! At such a young age, it's not likely Muffin has a malignant tumor; even if it was one, you would have seen symptoms of malignancy by now. It could be a benign tumor that is slowly growing. The only way to know for sure is to have Muffin seen by a vet for this. The vet can diagnose what is causing this lump and how best to treat it. I would take her into the vet in the next couple of days.
