Why do dogs always pee and poop on walks, even after going inside?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old

Bruno is well trained like if I can't take him on walk then he can do his pee and poop inside the bathroom but my question is like whole day I didn't take him on walk and he had done his pee and as well potty 3 times so if I take him on walk at night if again does his potty on walk so why do dogs whenever take them out he has to do potty even after doing that at home

Sometimes even though they have peed or pooped inside the house, they will do the same outside because they know that's what they are suppose to do outside. It is just in their nature. Also walking will help the GI tract start moving and increase urgency to poop. Plus being an intact male, Bruno likely has the urgency to mark his territory with his urine so he usually always has a small amount left in his bladder to do this. I hope this helps!
