My dog had puppies and is biting and rejecting them. What do I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Husky | Female

My dog gave birth to 11 pups the other day. She seems not to want them. Every time she looks at them she whines and she bites them a lot. I let her outside and as soon as she went outside she went to dig a hole and then tried burying her newborns! She keeps sitting on them and trying to suffocate them but maybe that's her just trying to protect them? If i would place them in a smaller war, box she will still grab them and bite them. What should I do? Sadly one pup passed away. I NEED HELP PLEASE

Unfortunately some dogs are poor mothers, and it's not normal that she bites them. The best thing to do is remove the puppies from Frickle to keep them safe, and you will have to bottle feed them yourself so they can survive. I will put a link below on how to raise newborn puppies, but please be aware that it is very time and labor intensive. You need to go out now and get some puppy formula. I recommend KMR, you can get it at a pet store or the grocery store. As for Frickle, I would have her spayed. When dogs are poor mothers, it's never recommend to breed them again, and she does not sound like a dog who should be bred again. http://www.2ndchance.info/orphanpuppy.htm
