My cat has diarrhea on antibiotics for UTI. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 years and 6 months old | 19 lbs

My cats on antibiotics for a uti and has diarrhea now! I've been putting fortiflora on his food. He isn't going constantly but one farting wet mess a day. Then I have to use baby wipes. Is this something we just have to deal with while he's on these antibiotics? Poor things had a rough 3.5 weeks! I let my vet know but of course they're closed now after work.

Sometimes antibiotics part the natural flora of the gut, you are doing the right thing in giving the probiotoc. It is difficult as obviously you want the uti to clear up, if Duck seems in good form otherwise and you can cope with the mess I would try and stick it out. If it gets really bad or continues a while see the vet.
