Hi, we got our dog Ollie when he was six months old (nov 16) and we was told he was caught up on his shots until his one year (may 17) we took him to the vet for the first time 6 months ago (Jan 16) and we had his boosters shot done just in case he was 8 months old then. I was around another dog with parvo and I know parvo shot is apart of boosters does he need another shot now? Or is six months ago still have him covered?

Ollie should have sufficient immunity against parvovirus. The typical vaccination schedule is to booster the parvovirus combination vaccine every 3-4 weeks until 16-20 weeks of age then repeat at about one year of age. After that the vaccine is given every 1-3 years. If he had the vaccine schedule as a puppy and then had a booster at 8 months he should be fine.

He needs to be vaccinated as soon as possible and it will take 2-3 days before the vaccine has a chance to work with his immune system. It will not likely be fully protected after the initial vaccine due to his age either. He will need a booster every 3 weeks until he is 4 months old to be considered fully protected, so you still need to be very careful about where he goes and where you go, as you can bring the virus back to him also.
