Hi there! Glad you're asking questions about what is good for Joey. This topic has actually been under much debate for quite a while amongst veterinarians and not everyone will tell you the same thing. Personally, I always discourage my clients from feeding them because of the poor digestibility and the tendency of the rawhide material to swell once ingested. Potentially this could lead to gi upset or potentially something like an obstruction or perforation (worst case scenario). Some dogs are fine when they eat them-also true. But in my opinion why risk it when there are other safe alternatives? Hope this helps! Glad to see you're a good pup parent!

Hello! The rule of thumb when choosing chew toys/treats for your pet is: if you wouldn't hit yourself in the knee with it, or you can drive a nail with it then you should be very cautious about giving it to your pet. There should always be a little give to the chew. With that said, rawhide tends to get soft when chewed. Joey currently has puppy teeth erupting, which are much more fragile than adult teeth and more susceptible to breaking. He will likely be fine with this chew; however, I would not leave him unattended with the chew. I strongly recommend you monitor him with the chew for aggressive chewing and to make sure he isn't able to bite off chunks that are too big and could potentially get stuck, which would be an emergency situation if that did occur. There is also always the possibility of gastrointestinal upset as well. Best of luck with Joey. I'm sure he's even cuter than I can even imagine!
