Is a spot with whiskers behind my dog's mouth normal or concerning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 72 lbs

Hi so I was just playing with my dog and noticed this little spot behind his mouth. He has a few whiskers coming out of this spot. I think that he may have had this the whole time but it's barely visible because the hair really covers it up unless you look at it from an angle. It doesn't seem to bother him he's not scratching it or anything. Should I be worried ? Is this normal of there are whiskers coming out of that spot? Thank You

Hi there! This is normal and many German Shepherd's have this very same presentation. It should not cause any problems and has probably been there for the lifetime of your pet. No worries! Hope this helps.
