My lovebird has a hole in its beak near the nostril. What should I do?

What do you give lovebirds that develop a hole in the beak around the nostrils? pics 1& 2 are the same bird.

He should be examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating birds. That hole/wound should be checked for infection and treated if necessary. Sometimes, lovebirds can inadvertently cause trauma during "beak play" but if Malik is alone, it may be infection or other trauma.

    It's possible that there is an abscess that has burst, creating the hole, or there is another underlying issue such as a wound, growth, fungal infection, etc. It would be best to bring Malik into a local avian vet to have the area looked at, cleaned if needed, and started on medications to prevent further infection.
